Jasper County Councilman Drayton Remembered

A man known to his fellow Jasper County Council members as being very fair to everyone died at his home Thursday.

Theo Drayton, 70, died from an extended illness, Jasper County Coroner Martin Sauls said. He had served as County Council vice chairman since January and had been a member of council for the past eight years.

“He was a man of integrity and he wanted to see things done the right way,” councilwoman Barbara Clark said. “While we saw some things the same, we did not always see eye to eye but we always would agree to disagree at times. He was determined and he did everything he could to help everybody.”
