Our Future Is Dependent on Completing Your Census

Completion of our Census is one of the most important things we can do. If you have not completed your Census information, the State, County, and the Jasper County Chamber of Commerce is encouraging you to do so today. It will only take about 10 minutes of your time to complete online. To complete the form, go to www.my2020census.gov, call 844-330-2020 for English or 844-468-2020 for Spanish, or fill out and return the paper form sent to you by mail.

Your participation is vital. At this time, South Carolina currently ranks 44th in the nation for self-response to the Census. At present, only 58% of South Carolinians have responded, which is 7% below the 2010 response. If the response number remains low, it will affect funding for schools, roads, internet access, healthcare, and community programs for the next 10 years.

There is only about a month left to be counted in the current census. So please, take a few minutes to complete the form or call the numbers above. The Jasper County and surrounding area population is growing rapidly and has increased significantly in the past 10 years. And, we project it will continue to grow rapidly over the next 10 years. We need accurate numbers now in order to receive the funding we will need to keep up with our rapid growth.

Also, be aware that you may see census takers in your neighborhood. They will be traveling door to door to collect information from households that have not completed their census information. All census collectors have identification that shows they are census takers. If you can assist them in any way please do so.

Please help us get the word out. Share this letter with friends and family and share on social media. The more people that complete their census the better prepared our local communities, county, and state will be in the future.
