Riverport Exit 3 Kicksoff With The Promise of a Bright Future

The Riverport’s exit 3 in Hardeeville is now one step closer to becoming a reality. This milestone and the economic development that follows will be life-changing for the residents and businesses of Jasper County and the region. Not only will it bring regional jobs, growth, and ongoing opportunities, but it will have a trickle-down effect for the nearby communities. As a result, we will improve our schools and the opportunities available to our children and children’s children. South Carolina Governor Henry McMasters stated, “Next to the Port of Charleston, this is the biggest opportunity for growth South Carolina has ever seen.” Senator Lindsey Graham concurred.

It all began as a vision about 12 years ago. Stratford Land, a Texas based company, envisioned the opportunity to develop 5100 acres near the Savannah River in Hardeeville. Through the belief in the project, the teamwork of all involved, and perseverance through many obstacles, the project will become a reality. The construction of Exit 3 off of I-95 and the development of the Riverport’s infrastructure will begin soon.

Senator Graham stated that out of a $360 million state budget for roads and infrastructure for the State of South Carolina, they allocated 180 million to develop the exit and Riverport area. That is one-half of the entire state budget for roads.

Seeing this project finally begin has been a cooperative effort between the Southern Carolina Alliance, City of Hardeeville, Jasper County, and the State of South Carolina. The dedication of many people over twelve years will result in a very bright future for Jasper County. It will also be a step in moving forward with the next big thing for the area, the Jasper Ocean Terminal.
